Ender's Game, Orson Scottcard, June 24.

As you read this book you kind of grow with Ender Wiggin. (The main character.) As he leaves for battle camp, gets promoted, and through the war. It is hard to think of Edner as a 6 year old child. He is younger then me when he defeats the "buggers." (I'm 12 and he was 11) You must read it. It was a wonderful sci-fi, but I would recomend it for older ages. The book says ten and up, I agree. The book gives you a narrator telling about Ender. But towards the end it seems to be through Ender's sister, Valentine's view, And she makes him seem crazy. Even though he's only like ten. The book talks about what war does to you. And as you will find out its not pretty. I'm going to be at camp for a week so i will have to stop my blog. :( I will see you all then. Happy Reading!!

Wurthering Heights, from the story by Emily Bronte. June 23.

This is a shorter version of the storie that has all the main points but isn't as long and complicated. The only problem about reading versions, is that I'm worried I won't get the full affect of the book. I am glad to say I do not think I had that problem with this book. I got all the characters fully, and the sceneary was not as vivid but close. I could tell each of the different characters personalitys and feelings quite easily. Although the story was very spooky  and the cover gave it this creepy feeling. I hope you will enjoy. Happy Reading!

The Castle In The Attic, Elizabeth Winthrop, June 22.

In this story about young William, a Silver Knight, Mrs. Phillip, an evil magican, and magic. Mrs. Phillip trys to leave and William, (Making a VERY immature decision.) shrinks her. As William Shrinks he travels to the wonderful, and some what scary world that the Silver Knight lives. In order to be big again, William must defeat the evil magican, Alastor, and get the other side of the magic medalion. the settings were better at some times,  but they  very good the rest of the time. The author should have described them more. Happy reading!!

Soul Surfer, Bethany Hamilton, June 21st.

In the beginning, I could not put down this book, but after awhile it felt as though it kept repeating itself. In almost every chapter she would talk about the shark attack. She started out the book that way, and ended that way too. She probably couldn't help it because the attack was so traumatic. Another problem I had was that she wouldn't stop talking about God. It was like, OK I get the piont you really like the guy. GET OVER IT!!!! I mean I go to church but I'm not super religious. Bethany was over the top. But if she thinks God helped her get back on the "board" that is great. I still think she could be a pro, but others may not. It's hard to talk about the book because most of it was exactly the same thing said differently. Happy Reading!

The Only Thing That Lasts, Tyler R. Tichelar, June 20th.

First off, I would like to thank the wonderful author for this book. Thank you so much. I truly did treasure every moment. This book was so good I don't even know what to say besides, YOU HAVE TO READ IT! As soon as I had read the first chapter I was in love with the main character, Robert O'Neill, the world famous author. Even though this book was fiction, I felt as though every moment was true. All of the characters were vividly beautiful, and I will definitely read it again and share with my friends. Thanks again. The next book I'm going to be reading is Soul Surfer by Bethany Hamilton. Happy Reading!

Adventures Of A Cat Whiskered Girl, Daniel Pinkwater, June 19.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! I would recommend it for all ages, just read it! The book starts out with an idea, pretend that you are living in a house with 3 floors, but you can only see and hear the one you are on. But there are entirely different worlds on the others. That is about what the entire book is about. Audrey, the cat whiskered girl, and Molly, a mountain Dwerg (and my favorite character.), along with Professor Tag and Chicken Nancy go looking for the Muffin Man, the Wullof, and many other weird and exotic things. (Too many to tell you without ruining the book for you.) I REALLY! hope you will read it. Happy Reading!!! :) :)

The Trumpet Of The Swan, E. B. White.

Right after I read Once Upon A Marigold, I read this one. This was one of my mom's favorite books and she recommended the book to me. I was in love with little Louis the swan, he seemed so adorable, cute and funny. I liked how I got to watch him grow through out the book. Another one of my favorite characters was Sam. Sam was the one true friend of Louis. Serena, Louis's wife, was annoying at first, she would ignore him and pretend he wasn't there. But then Louis gets his trumpet and he's a big deal. (By the way, I play the trumpet too!) People/ birds like that annoy me. Overall I thought the characters were well made and the plot was interesting with just the right amount of twists. Happy Reading!

Once Upon A Marigold, Jean Ferris, June 17.

Sorry, change of plans. We stopped at a store with free books and I grabbed this and had to read it. I loved this story about Christen, who ran away from home at the age of 6, and was raised by a troll. At 17 he fell in love with Princess Marigold. Along with Marigold came her curse, she can tell what people are thinking just by touching them. This skill is very valuable when trying to foil Queen Olympia's evil plot which involves star crossed lovers, a flying machine, and magic. The next book I am reading is The Trumpet Of The Swan by E. B. White. Happy Reading!!!! :)

Glinda Of Oz, L. Frank Baum, June 16.

I have already read one of the Oz books, but I have run out of books to read on my trip. This was the final book in the Oz series. It was about Dorothy, Ozma, Glinda, the Skeezers, and the Flatheads. When Dorothy discovers that there is a war going on between two unknown types of people. (The Flatheads, and Skeezers.) Their goal is to stop the war and rescue the three fishes made of gold, silver, and bronze. Remember in unknown lands like the Land of Oz nothing is ever as it seems. The next book I am going to be reading is Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson, this version is only basised of of the real one. Happy Reading!!! :)

The Black Pearl, Scott O'Dell, June 15.

Sorry, I'm a couple days behind. I guess traveling can be hard to keep up with. I read this book as a recomendation from my Mom. This book was about a boy named Ramon, Who finds a gaint black pearl belonging to the Manta Diablo. A giant mounsterous manta ray. I enjoyed the book, but I found the ending very harsh. The main part of the book was the pearl. Which got a little weird because it was an object for jewlery that was 63.3 carats. Overall the book was ok, but I have read many others that were better. The next book I'm reading is Glinda Of Oz, By L. Frank Baum. Happy Reading!!!!!!!! :)

Little House In The Big Woods, Laura Ingalls Wilder, June 14.

Sorry this post is a little late. I was busy packing, and driving. I read the first book in the Little House series. And I was suprised I had not read it, since I've read almost all the other ones. Anyway, in this book young Laura and her sister Mary go to town for the frist time, and celebrate the sugar snow with a dance. They also enjoy winter by tossing arond a pig's bladder, GROSS! But aperently very fun. :) The one problem i have with Laura's writing, is that somtimes she writes as though one of the young characters, such as baby Carrie, doesn't exist. Which can be weird because then you think that she has died or gone somwhere. Otherwise i love her writing. The next book I'm reading is undecided. Happy reading!! :)

Clarice Bean, Don't Look Now, Lauren Child, June 13.

I have/still do love this series. This is the the third and final book, but is as good as the last two, if not better. In this one 11 year old Clarice Bean, who is obsessed with Ruby Redford. A Book Character. Learns about change and worries. Especially, "Its the worry you haven't thought to worry about, that will worry you the most." The worries her. But in the end, even though her best friend moves and is replaced by a person who has been hanging out with the one mean boy in Clarice's class, and turns out to be very nice.  But i really enjoyed the book. The next book I'm going to be reading is Little House In The Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Happy Reading!

All American Girl, Meg Cabot, June 12

OK before my blog has been very formal, but today I'm going to try to write it like I'm talking to you. (If you are even reading.) In  the book All American girl, 15 year old Samantha, saves the president. This book which was really good, was more about adjusting to change around us, and what its like as a teen to not get your way. I could really relate to Sam through out the book, I mean she said that even though she had lots of friends and was constantly surrounded by the paparazzi. She often felt alone, and unwanted. (Mostly by the secretary know as Mr. White.) But otherwise it was a good book for teen, and preteen girls to relate too. The next book I'm looking forward to reading is Clarice Bean, Don't Look Now by Lauren Child. Happy Reading! (please tell me which way you like better, me talking, or me formal.)

Wishes, Kisses, and Pigs, Betsy Hearne. June 11

In this story about magic, kisses and spells. Louise wishes upon a star, but before she makes her wish, the star grants it. Making Louise's brother a pig. This story was about Louise and her mother, Clara, finding love, friendship, and Jack. (Louise's father.)
I enjoy this book, although some of the events seemed kind of skippy, (as in they jumped around.) The end was the most confusing part. i would explain why but then it would give the whole book away. it would get a 7-10. The next book i'm going to read is All American Girl by Meg Cabot. Happy Reading!

Earthquake At Dawn, Kristiana Gregory, June 10.

In this book about the earthquake in San Fransisco on April 18, 1906.  The book is in the piont of view of Dasiy Valentine. Daisy is on her way to Australia with Edith Irvine, Daisy is Ediths servent, Daisy is going with Edith to help her phototgraph the world. But the world gets about as small as San Fransisco after the earthquake. In Earthquake At Dawn, we learn about the hardships people with no homes and no food face, we also learn about death. Even though the real records show only 300 died, there was at least a 1,000 deaths.
I really enjoyed this book, I know I've said that a lot, but this time I truly mean it. I would highly recomend of  my age group, younger children would not understand much, but it fits perfectly for ages 10-15. this book is a 11-10. A very rare rating, but the actual photographs are ecatcly as described in the book. The next book i'm going to be reading is Wishes, Kisses, And Pigs by Bestsy Hearne. Happy Reading!

The Door In The Wall, Marguerite de Angeli, June 9.

In this book set in the midevil times. Robin, a ten year old boy, is sent off by his parents to be a page for a knight. But before the knight can get him, Robin gets sick and can't move his legs. This book was about Robin and  him trying to find his place in the world. In the end he finds that he is much more important then he thought he was, crutches and all.
I really enjoyed this book, even though it was short, (sadly 30 pages too short.) It was a very nice book for all ages, even though having to read thou'st, and thee all the time was hard. The book would be a 8-10. The next book i'm reading is Earthquake At Dawn by Kristiana Gregory. Happy Reading!

The BFG, Roald Dahl, June 8

In this book about dreams and giants. Sophie is whisked away by the Big Friendly Giant, otherwise known as the BFG. The BFG takes Sophie to the land of Non. Where the giants live. And to the land of dreams.  In the end the BFG helps Sophie put a stop to the child eating giants forever.
This is one of my new favorites by Roald. I have also read, The Witches, James and the Giant Peach, and Matilda. Out of them all, this book is by far his best. Out of 10, it gets 10. I would recomend this for all ages. The next book I'm going to read is The Door In The Wall by Marguerite de Angleli. Happy Reading!

The Library Card, Jerry Spinelli, June 7.

In this book, there are several short stories about books and the people they change. The first is about Mongoose and him finding his love for reading. Then there was Brenda and her T.V. Sonseray and his mother's book. And last, but not least, April Mendez and her letters.
All of the books were different, but all had one thing in common. The library card. A blue card that brings them each to a future they never imagined. A wonderful book for all ages. My next book is The BFG by  Roald Dahl. Happy Reading!

Old Yeller, Frank Gibson. June 6.

In this timeless classic about a boy and his dog, the story goes beyond on  much more than that. It is also a story about growing up. In this book the boy's father, (the boy is the main character ,but his name is never mentioned.) leaves to move their cattle 600 miles away. The boy is left in charge of the farm, he faces many troubles and hardships, such  as rescuing his brother from a bear, and saving themselves from rabies.
I enjoyed reading this classic and it was a very good quick read. I hope you will enjoy it. My favorite part was when they first found Old Yeller. And when they found out about him stealing food. I have not decided what to read next but i can assure you it will be good. Happy Reading!

The A.B.C. Murders, Agatha Christie. June 5.

In this beatifully crafted mystery, Hercule Poirot, a great retired detective. Has gotten a letter, telling him that there will be a murder in Andover on the 21st. The victim is an elderly woman, by the name of Alice Ascher. The next was Betty Barnard in Bexhill, Carmichael Clarke in Churston, and last in Doncaster, they have a suprise.
I love Agatha's books because she can make the murderer be anyone. In this case he/she was my favorite character. This book along with Ten Little Indians,(also know as And Then There Were None) also by Agatha. Are by far the best mysterys i've ever read. Even though the book was fantastic, i would recomend for a older and more mature reader. The next book i'm reading is Old Yeller by Fred Gibson. Happy Reading!

I would highly recomend any of the books in the Oz series. All are very good and fit my age group almost perfectly. My favorite part was when the chicken started to talk. I hope you will enjoy this book. Happy reading! The next book i'm reading is the ABC Murders by Agatha Christie.

My favorite part of the book was the end.  I would tell you, but I hope you will read it yourself. Out of 5 it gets 5 stars. and out of ten 9.5. It is an old book so a few of the terms were confusing. Happy Reading! And enjoy!

The Sisters Grimm, The Problem Child, Book 3. By Michel Buckley June 1st.

In this series the Sisters Grimm, Daphne and Sabrina Grimm. The decendants of the Brothers Grimm. Are looking for their parents, who were stolen by an Everafter. Everafters are fairytail creatures, only they are alive and well in the books. This book in particular, the Sisters Grimm are looking for their parents. When searching for the kidnaper, they run into their Uncle Jake, And the Jabberwocky, a mythical creature from Alice's Adventures In Wonderland by Louis Carol. The owner of the jabberwocky is Little Red Riding Hood. The start of the book is when Sabrina lit a match (in the last book) and ended up in the FerryPort Landing Assylm. Where Little Red was keeping her parents captive. Puck, know as the trickster king, and known well from Shakespeare's A Midsummers Night Dream, rescues her. But in the hospital for her broken arm, he happens to write Captain Dootie Face, and draw a mustache on her face with permant marker. (Lukily it fades) And much to suprise in the book, Puck and Sabrina have a very ocward first kiss in front of thousands of screaming monkeys in Puck's room. But it comes to a good thing because it means Puck will do anything for her. To kill Red Riding Hood's Jabberwocky, they need the vorpal sword. The Sisters Grimm's leagal gardian and Grandmother, Relda, has the first peice, The Little Mermaid has the second, and Babba Yaga has the last. The pieces are put together by the Blue Fairy, and put to use imediantly. The reason the girls parents were stolen was learned when it was realized that Red Riding Hood was insane, litarally. She fantasises about making a family that she never had. with a baby brother, mom, dad, puppy, kitty, and grandmother. Sadly she has been trying to take as many of those things as possible from the Sisters Grimm. In the end all is well  just like in regular fairytails.
I Really enjoyed this book, and would recomend it for 9-13 year olds. Over all i rate this book a 5 out of five, wonderfully writen and created, the caracters semm amazingly real. I've enjoyed the series so far and look forward to telling you about the next book. Once Upon A Crime. Happy reading!
